In 2005, Almasrya started making BMC composite manhole covers when most people in the Middle East only used metal covers. Other composite covers were weak and unreliable. Almasrya changed this by creating the world’s first fully metal-free BMC cover in 2007—strong, durable, and better than metal.
Saudi Arabia is one of the biggest and fastest-growing countries in the Middle East. The country is working on huge construction projects under Vision 2030, and they need better materials that last longer and are theft-proof. Traditional metal covers rust, get stolen, and cost too much to maintain.
Almasrya became well-known for its composite covers, and soon Al Zamil for Industry, Trade, and Transport, a top Saudi company, wanted to work with us. At first, they only wanted to sell our covers in Saudi Arabia, but they quickly realized the potential of composite technology.
Instead of just selling, Al Zamil decided to build their own factory with our help.
Through a technology transfer agreement, Almasrya helped Al Zamil set up their first composite manhole cover factory in Saudi Arabia. We provided:
Thanks to our partnership, Al Zamil is now the biggest producer of composite manhole covers in the Arabian Gulf. These covers are long-lasting, theft-proof, and cost-effective, making cities safer and saving money.
Almasrya’s success in bringing its technology to Saudi Arabia shows our leadership in innovation. We proved that Egyptian engineering can compete and lead in global markets.
This case study is proof that teamwork, smart ideas, and good planning can help cities build better infrastructure for the future.
